Since 2010, we have been raising livestock for meat, eggs and fiber. We strive to provide a sustainable income for our family, to be good neighbors, to be positive stewards of the lands we manage, and to provide a safe, comfortable, and healthy environment for our livestock.

Our story

Skyelark Ranch is operated as a family business by us, Alexis and Gillies Robertson, with varied amounts of help and hindrance from our Border Collies, Skye and Peat.

We started Skyelark Ranch following years of combined experience in environmental and natural resource management. We both value good food and have always sought out local, sustainable, and unique sources as a way of making what we eat more meaningful to ourselves, and to ensure our choices are in the best interests of both the land and the farmer. It was easy for us to see the parallels between our chosen professions and our passion for sustainably produced foods. We have taken what we enjoy and what we value and combined them to shape our business as livestock ranchers.

We value the importance of a sense of both purpose and of place; we look forward to a life of challenge and self-sufficiency and hope that through our efforts, hard work, and ingenuity we are able to meet those goals.

Our combined experience and diverse backgrounds have provided us with the necessary tools to operate Skyelark Ranch in a manner that balances our passions for sound environmental stewardship and providing a range of healthy, and humanely raised livestock products.

Having spent our first few years, like most young and aspiring farmers, leasing our farmland, we are now proud and happy to announce that we have found our permanent home in the small town of Edgewood in Siskiyou County. We purchased our ranch in the fall of 2017, and hope that over the next several years we are able to share with you our progression towards achieving our goals of building an ecologically, socially, and economically viable diverse livestock ranch.

Thank you for taking the time to come with us on this journey, and although it's nowhere near to being an all-inclusive photo, we could NOT do what we are doing without the help and support from the folks featured above. Whatever we do, they are always close at hand, providing moral support, babysitting, a hot meal, a six pack or three, mechanical advice, veterinarian expertise, or just down-right showing up and getting shit done!
