The Skyelark Story

Skyelark Ranch is operated as a family business and partnership by Alexis and Gillies Robertson with varied amounts of help and hindrance from our Border Collies, Skye and Peat.

Under the watchful eye of Mount Shasta, Skyelark Ranch lies at the head of the Shasta Valley in far-northern California's Siskiyou County. The Shasta Valley is home to rolling cattle ranches, orchards, historic towns, and hay fields. Settled in the 1850's and recognized as the location of the original Butteville Stage stop, Skyelark Ranch is situated at the confluence of the Shasta River and Boles Creek, which then flow north to join with the Klamath River just north of the town of Yreka. Among the ranches and farms of the southern Shasta Valley, Skyelark Ranch has grown from the innovation and determination of its founders Alexis and Gillies Robertson. After years of working and studying in environmental conservation and having blended that experience with their shared passion for a more sustainable form of livestock production, we are delighted to introduce you to Skyelark Ranch.

At Skyelark Ranch, our goal is to raise livestock in a way that is both humane and in balance with our land, our community, and our surroundings. Our animals are raised on grass, without the use of chemicals, growth hormones, or antibiotics, and in tune with the seasons of our climate. On a seasonal basis, we offer grass-fed lamb, pastured chicken, and pastured pork for retail at The Davis Farmer's Market, pre-order through our website, and at various retail stores and restaurants throughout Northern California. Please feel free to contact us directly to find out what’s available now.
